Five Ways to Use Essential Oils When Overwhelmed or Stressed

It was over six years ago that I found myself in a new home with a brand new baby, an 18 month old toddler and a 70 lb Irish Setter who was anxious beyond belief about our recent move. Honestly? This was the beginning of my downfall to anxiety. It was awful. 

I had a friend reach out and send me samples of essential oils which I had heard a lot about but never had the bandwidth to get into. 

After getting the samples, I jumped on board and bought the Young Living Starter kit and started very slowly. I first found the benefit in using oils as a preventative measure for our physical health which was phenomenal for a mom dealing with massive anxiety and a phobia of the stomach bug. 

But as my overwhelm continued to grow and grow and grow, I found so much benefit and help in using these oils for emotional wellness as well. And to this day, use them daily to support the entire household in our physical and emotional wellness as well as supporting our non-toxic lifestyle.

Meanwhile, here are my favorite ways to use oils for stress and overwhelm.

ONE 

  • Put one drop lavender in your hand, rub together, cup over your nose and breathe deeply.

  • Four counts in

  • Hold four counts

  • Eight counts out.

  • Repeat breathing five times.

TWO

  • Put 4 drops stress away + 3 drops orange in your diffuser

  • Diffuse throughout the day or as needed.

THREE

  • Run a bath.

  • Put 2 drops of frankincense + 2 drops of lavender in a cup of epsom salt.

  • Put the salt in your bath.

  • Light candles

  • Tell your family you're off limits for 30 minutes.

  • Enjoy.

FOUR 

  • Put a drop of Release on the back of your neck.

  • Select a meditation on your favorite meditation app.

  • Tell your family you're off limits for 10 minutes.

  • Breathe & Ground

FIVE

  • Ylang Ylang + Bergamont + Orange

  • Put 10 drops of each in a roller.

  • Fill the rest with a carrier oil like coconut oil. 

  • Roll on back of neck. 

  • Behind ears. 

  • On wrists.

  • Feel the calm. 

  • Feel the happy.
